Frederick Cheater married Elizabeth Clark 30 Dec 1837 at St James', Bath.

Both full age, bachelor and spinster, her father William Clark chairman and his James Cheater cellarman. Frederick says he's a labourer. Witnesses John Alfred and Hannah Bushell.

(the above is from FreeREG)

Next they have a daughter:

Cheter Louisa Bath 11 33

(no bap on FreeREG and this birth doesn't appear on Bath BMD)

Then they appear on the 1841 census (laft page, Fred is now a French polisher):

Then their daughter dies:

Deaths Mar 1842
CHEATER Louis Bath 11 36

(on Bath BMD it says Louisa aged 2)

and that's it! Can anyone find them after this?

I'm hoping Elizabeth is the sister of my 2xg-grandgfather, bap 1816 at St Mary's Walcot, Bath. On her baptism her father, William, was a chairman.

We have looked for this couple before. The only useful snippet from the other thread is this:

In 1842 an Elizabeth Cheater was brought before the Bath Quarter Sessions for steeling a sheet. I don't know if it's the same Elizabeth who started out as Elizabeth Clark (and/or whether this is my Elizabeth Clark), but her age was given as 23. My Elizabeth should have been 25 or 26, so not enough difference to say it can't really be her..... She got two weeks hard labour.

I haven't read through all of your post yet, Merry, but this birth is down as Chester on Bath BMD.

Thanks.

I've not found any further children on Bath BMD.

Could Frederick be John Frederick Cheater, baptised 3 Mar 1816 at Bath St Michael, son of James Cheater, labourer, and Sarah, abode 14 Ladymead? (Transcription from FreeREG.)

Oh, that sounds very possible.

Not having any luck finding them after 1841/2.
