Assignment of a mortgage
1. Thomas Duglas of Easton Maudit
2. Thomas Eaton of Grendon
3. Charles Norbury and David Smyth,churchwardens and Edward Warden and robert Prest, overseers of the poor of Grendon.

Reciting a mortgage for 320 of 29th March 1709 between 1 Thomas Eaton and Thomas, his son and 2 Thomas Duglas. For several pieces of arable land, ley and pasture ground in the common fields of Grendon of 8 !/2 acres,in the tenure of Eaton. Formerly the inheritance of Thomas Marshall the elder and settled by him on his son Thomas by deedpoll dated 19th October [1638]. Descending to the late Sarah Eaton, daughter and heir of Thomas Marshall the younger and wife of Thomas Eaton. The mortgage has not been repaid. Thomas Eaton the son is now dead leaving his own son Thomas an infant, 'with divers other small children who are all become chargeable to the said parishe of Grendon as is also the said Thomas Eaton the elder'. Eaton and Duglas have accounted for the rents and profits of the 8 1-2 acres taken by Duglas which leaves a balance of £11 owing to Duglas. Now Eaton and Duglas will assign the mortgage term to the churchwardens and overseers of the poor for £11, to be paid to Duglas. Witnesses: Joseph Browne,Samuel Browne. Endorsed memorandom that Joseph Browne, tenant in possession of the premises agrees to pay the rent of £3 to the churchwardens and overseers and their successors.

I have now found that there are Eaton children baptised at Easton Maudit, a neighbouring parish. I will add them all when I have time.
