Hi,

I've been searching for the Moorhouse family on the 1861 census with no success. Hoping someone might be able to find what I cannot.

Joseph & Hannah Moorhouse born born circa 1827 (Joseph in Bramley & Hannah in Denaby). Should be in Rotherham as that is where they had been living before and after this census.

Two known children that they had and were alive in 1861 were Eliza Ann born 1852 in Denaby, & William born 1855 in Rotherham (Eastwood area).

Many thanks

On the 1871 census, their son John Thomas's birthplace is Eastwood Farm, Yorkshire, and he was born in 1861 but after census night, so I was hoping to find them at Eastwood Farm on the 1861 census but I can't figure out how to find Eastwood Farm!

You're right Kate that they should be in the Eastwood area but I can't find them at all :(

Finally found them the old-fashioned way - trawled through all the Rotherham enumeration district descriptions to see which one mentioned Eastwood (no 10 of 10, of course) and then trawled through that district page by page, and of course they are on image 41 of 41! (about halfway down the page)

I have added their full names to the transcription on ancestry so hopefully they will be easier for people to find in the future.

oh wow, thank you so much Kate for your help and time. That is an awful page so thank you for adding the full name transcriptions for that image for future people who might want to view it.
