I don't know if you already saw anything like this, Kite, but I Googled
(Hefner OR Höfner OR Häfner) deutsch -hugh -cosby -guitar -baseball
and found my way to www.dict.cc (http://www.dict.cc/deutsch-englisch/H%C3%A4fner.html)
where I found:

dict.cc
Deutsch-Englisch-Wörterbuch
Deutsch-Englisch-Übersetzung für: Häfner

NOUN der Häfner | die Häfner
SYNO Aulner [veraltet] | Hafner | Häfner ...

Häfner {m} [südd.]
stove setter [of tiled stoves]

I'm guessing that südd. means some variation on süddeutsche (my German is elementary, so please don't hold me responsible for any case endings). Possibly a regional usage, then? Baden-Württemberg is in the south.

My German dictionary says Häfner is a South German or Austrian word which means :

1. potter
2. stove builder; stove setter
