I have Lawrence Perrin given as the godfather of John Taylor, the son of John Taylor and his wife Martha Ann. Martha Ann's maiden name was Walker, and her mother's maiden name was Perrin. John Taylor's baptism was 27th August 1843 at St Mary's, Liverpool.

The only Lawrence Perrin I have found is on the 1841 Census:

born c. 1786

It is very tempting to think he was Ann Perrin/Walker's brother, but I can find any baptism. She had two confirmed brothers, William and Peter. Ann was baptised in 1785. Her parents were John and Martha Perrin.

This looks like him in the Criminal Registers, age 58 in 1841 (near the bottom of the page):

John Perrin of Liverpool married Catherine Seaman 1 Mar 1778 at Warrington, by licence. I wonder whether it could be the same John Perrin as the one who married Martha? In which case maybe Lawrence was their son, and Ann's half-brother. Not found anything (such as Lawrence's baptism) to back this up yet though.

When did Lawrence die? (I couldn't find a death)

Thanks, Kate. He's very illusive.

That's an interesting thought, Kate.

John Perrin married Martha Helsby in1785:
Name: John Perrin
Marriage Date: 31 Jan 1785
Marriage Parish: Liverpool, St Peter
Spouse's Name: Martha Helsby
Reference Number: 283 PET/3/4

The marriage record gives Martha as a Widow and John's occupation as a Maltster, but nothing about his marital status.

This is Martha's first marriage:

Name: Martha Shaw
Gender: Female
Event Type: Marriage
Event Date: 27 Sep 1773
Parish: Liverpool, St Paul, Lancashire, England
Spouse: Jno Helsby
Register Type: Bishop's Transcript

I don't know when John Perrin was born.

Neither could I, Merry.

There is a Catharine Perrin buried 15 Mar 1803 at St Anne, Liverpool, age 55, who could be the wife in that 1778 marriage. In which case not the first wife of the John who married Martha.

This is interesting about the Perrin family at Warrington:

I have no idea whether there is any connection with the Perrin family I am investigating.
