View Full Version : Where is Elsie Stanbridge in 1939?

Elsie Mary Stanbridge born 6 Jan 1894 in Burton. She never married and apparently developed TB at some point and had to live by the coast. She died in 1985 in Christchurch Hospital, Dorset.

I can't find her anywhere.

I haven't had any luck with the 1939 Register yet, but could this be her on the 1931 Electoral Register?

Ah, I should have realised Bournemouth would be listed as Hampshire! Also her dob is down as 5 Jan. Well done, Mary.

The occupations are hard to read, because the image is split, but it looks as though Elsie's a manageress m. chocolate, and the two Barwicks are modistes.

If that wasn't her on the 1931 E Roll then that isn't her on the 1939 Register, Marg, because both are with the Barwicks so surely have to be the same person.

Actually that could be her. Her birth cert gives her name as Elsie Mary but as she was a Catholic, I bet her confirmation name was Winifred. Her sister Lucy (OH's grandmother) sometimes used the name Bernadette. That was her confirmation name.
