They say they will be on Findmypast from March 2016. But, since they are the Catholic Parish Registers which are already available free to browse on the National Library of Ireland site, I wonder how FMP will be able to avoid researchers doing a free search and then going to view the image free on the other site?

From an Ancestry email received today -

"STOP PRESS
Irish Parish Records
Look out for a large Irish release in March. We’ll be launching 10 million Irish Catholic Parish Records from all over the country, covering the 1700s to 1900s."

I wonder if this is the same collection?

This is what ancestry have said on Facebook:

Next month we will be publishing more than 10 million Catholic Parish records from Ireland on Ancestry. The collection means that Ancestry will have over 55 million Irish records and will provide the largest collection of Irish Catholic parish records available online.

The records consist of Baptism, Marriage and Burial records from over 1,000 Catholic parishes across Ireland and Northern Ireland. Baptism and Marriage records make up the majority of the collection and Burial records can be found primarily for parishes in the northern regions.
More details to follow in March!

Certainly sounds like the same records, though ancestry are being pretty cagy on Facebook, with answers like " currently we are unable to provide any information that members can use to compare this record collection to that of other sites. When we publish this collection, though, you can go to its main page and find what records are accessible in it on our site to compare it to another site's collection." and "normally our collections are indexed, but currently the information we know about this collection is what has been listed above. We apologise for the inconvenience!"

According to Irish Genealogy News, it is the same collection, and ancestry will also be providing an index.

It looks as though these will be available very soon on ancestry as they have put a link to it on their home page, though it only leads to the boy with the noose at the moment:

Ancestry's database has just been updated. I don't know what they have done exactly though.
