England United Grand Lodge Freemason Membership Registers 1751-1921 (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=60620)
Ireland Grand Lodge Freemason Membership Registers 1733-1923 (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=60904)

I wish the "new and updated databases" page on ancestry still showed the total number of records in each database. Without that, it's hard to tell what is a major addition. But I'm excited about this because some of my ancestors are supposed to have been Freemasons. Not figured out whether England includes Wales or not yet. If anyone figures it out before I do, please post the answer on here!

Looking at my search results so far, it seems that England includes India and Africa! Not got time to look at it properly now as I have to go and eat, but will definitely be having a good search through later.

Oh, I'm interested in this too, my great grandfather was a Grand Lodge Master (I think!) but maybe too late for this set of records.

Thanks, Kate! I have already found 6 of my family (Purkis and Quintrell). It doesn't include my grandfather as it finishes too early for him.

I've just seen Aberystwyth in the search results, so it looks as though Wales is included.

Found one great-grandfather, but not another one who was also rumoured to have been a member.

Goodness, my Mum's family was crawling with Freemasons.
Grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and lots of cousins/uncles.

It turns out my 2x-grandfather on that side was a mason, so maybe the family story got a little bit muddled. It certainly does seem to be a big collection of records.

And now I've found a 2xg-uncle was a mason in India!

I found my grandfather, which was no surprise, but I also found another distant relative who was excluded from his lodge!

I've found a website that explains the possible reasons for exclusion. I should love to known which one applies to him.

While I have found my great grandfather's Crisp cousins there's no sign of his father who was a treasurer for a masonic lodge according to a newspaper article I found which records the lodge's thanks for his years of service.

Here is a search screen for both England and Ireland together:

This is brilliant. Best mate's ex (a mason) looked for her step-grandfather, but could not find him. Two minutes in the database and I have an entry, which ties up with where he was living!

One of the records I have just looked at has the yearly subscriptions, and has Dead written in the year of death which has helped me spot my ancestor among others of the same name.

Thanks so much for this info & link - could anyone with access please do me a favour by providing date & lodge address for one of mine shown there?

Have replied, would have done sooner but I nodded off (I was listening to that classic Hancock's Half Hour on iplayer BBc radio about Sunday afternoons with nothing to do!)
