NK. On her marriage she is said to be of Westmeston or Chailey. Appleby is a very uncommon name at this time in Sussex, there is a John & Mary Appleby having children bapt and buried at Westmeston from 1797, but no Mary bapt there. None at Chailey. There are a cluster of Appleby bapts and burials in Frant, Sussex again, lacking a Mary.
