A couple of online tree suggest Thomas is the son of Thomas Raby and Elizabeth Robinson (widowed name). Married: 23 SEP 1791 in Stainfield, Lincolnshire.

They also suggest Thomas snr remarried: 12 NOV 1815 in Stainfield to Rebecca Holmes and had a son, Edward, b1816 Stainfield.


I can't find anything to prove the details for Thomas 1798 or who Elizabeth Robinson may, (or may not) be, if she is indeed his mother.

A lot of trees on ancestry have the main Thomas in your thread as marrying Mary Dove. The Thomas Raby / Mary Dove marriage is on FamilySearch as 13 Dec 1832 at Ingham. Here it is on Lincs to the Past and Thomas is a widower, of Ingham, which fits with the census info for your Thomas (also it must be right because of Ann Dove on the 1841 census):

The baptisms for the older children on FamilySearch show that their mother was also called Mary. There are two possibles on there for Thomas's first marriage: 19 Nov 1816 at Goxhill to Mary Fulstow, or 11 Sep 1819 at Stainfield, to Mary Kew. The Goxhill couple are still having children baptised when your Thomas is having children in Ingham, so it looks likely that your Thomas's first marriage was to Mary Kew.

This fits well with your Elizabeth (see witness' name in post #5)

I split the two threads as it would get confusing, lttp hasn't been loading for me hence the threads , I'll try again later.

I've actually got Chambers, Espin and Raby family in the area and all three familes marry into each other so all are in my main line at some point.

eg Harriet 1840 married George Espin in Lincoln in 1857, I got the cert today, witnesses are Charlotte and William Raby. George appears in the census as a servant with a female member of the Raby fanily also in the household as a FS.
