Charles Hadrill and Mary Ann Green had 6 children, 2 surviving till the 1911 census.

Known children -

Ada Louisa 1878 - 1953
Annie Mary 1879 - 1882 (buried Camberwell)
Valentine Charles Thomas 1886 - 1961
Albert Henry 1889 - 1911 (buried Nunhead)
Arthur George 1892 - 1894 (buried Nunhead)

Ada was baptised March 1893 and Valentine, Albert and Arthur in January 1893 in Rotherhithe.

I had always assumed, because of the big gap, the missing child must have been born and died in between Annie Mary and Valentine. (There is an 1884 birth and 1886 Camberwell burial of an Alice Mary Hadrill.)

However, Albert Henry Haddrell was admitted to Waller Road School, Lewisham 27 Aug 1895. Father Charles, address correct for Charles Hadrill. He had previously attended Monnow Road, Bermondsey for one year.

The following year, on 6 May 1896, Ethel Haddrell, father Chas, address correct for Charles Hadrill, was admitted to Waller Road.

Ethel's dob and history of previous schools columns are blank. She does not appear on any census and I can't find any birth, baptism, death or burial record, under any variation of the spelling of Hadrill.

Thanks for looking Kate and Shona.

Another frustrating mystery then! Charles accidentally put dob for himself and wife on 1911 instead of place of birth, wife's birthday was out by a day, and didn't know how many years they'd been married, so perhaps numbers weren't his thing (in spite of the fact that he was a greengrocer!) and they had actually had 7 children. Alternatively, as no dob was given for Ethel, perhaps she was a foster child and Hadrill/Haddrell wasn't her real surname.
