Does the description 'portrait' on Ancestry guarantee it is actually that & not a
document? I think Merry dealt with a similar query from me a while ago but I
can't remember the answer!

Where exactly does it say "portrait", Vita?
When you upload a picture to Ancestry you get the option of
Portrait/Family Photo
Site/building/Place
Headstone
Document/Certificate
Other
so it depends whether the person who uploaded the picture selected the right category. I've seen many wrongly categorized pictures/documents.
Where exactly does it say "portrait", Vita?
Next to 2xg grandfather's name on Ancestry after Googling him - far right of
page.
It also says 'portrait' for 3rd wife Lucy - think they must be recent as I've
never seen them before.
Other things relating to him & wives 1 & 2 say 'document' but these say
'portrait.'
Sorry Kite - probably should have added it under 'Private Members Photos - category
'Portrait.'

Thanks all - would have been worth taking a temp membership to get a look at Henry
William (if allowed) but not if there's a possibility of wrong category.
Have you googled William Peppiatt Hughes?

I have now Merry - another Headland/Hughes pairing!
