Made 5 Mar 1792, probate Chichester 6 Oct 1804. Son William inherited messuage & tenement west of Green Dragon, son Thomas had messuage & tenement 2 furlongs south of Ashbrooks Bridge, and sons Richard and James got the tenement and messuage next to the church, Richard’s share to go to James on his death. A codicil also specified that James was to receive £50 less than his brothers. James was a bad apple and led the Shipley gang, breaking into and stealing from local properties with his sons James and Daniel and others, he was caught and sent to Petworth House of Correction in 1816 where he hanged himself, his sons being transported to Australia.
