I've been looking at OH's Andrew family from Saddleworth and was pleased to find some of the baptisms on Ancestry.

The parents are William and Betty Andrew from Roughtown, Saddleworth.

I have:
Mary
John
Edward
Martha
John
James
Thomas
Betty

The baptisms for James and Thomas appear in the Manchester non-conformist registers and I have downloaded the images.

James 10th July 1800
Thomas 6th June 1804

Here is the problem: They are appearing under MONSALL Methodist New Connection Market Place. I was expecting it to be MOSSLEY, so did a double take. A lot of the families used Mossley.

http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?indiv=1&db=ManchesterNonConformist&gss=angs-d&new=1&rank=1&msT=1&gsfn_x=NN&gsln=Andrew&gsln_x=NP_NN_NS&msfng=William&msmng=Betty&MSAV=1&uidh=xt1&pcat=34&fh=0&h=31461&recoff=8+32+33+44+45&ml_rpos=1

They appear under Mossley on Lancashire OPC:

Monsall also appears to be too far away from Saddleworth.

A lot of the addresses given in there say Mossley, so I should think it is another ancestry error. I know there is one like that in their Lancashire parish registers.

Thanks, Kate. I thought it must be a mistake. Do they ever get corrected?

I don't think I ever got round to reporting the other one to ancestry as I was too busy adding records to my tree, Elizabeth! But it would be worth reporting it and hoping they do fix it.
