I have Samuel and Nancy Martin on the 1881 census in Aston, Wawickshire.

Piece:3023 Folio:79 Page:17

On the 1901 Nancy is widowed and living with her daughter Matilda

I can't find her or Samuel in 1891 or Samuel's death.

I have Nancy's death in 1907 in Aston.

Maybe the enumerator misread the mother's name on the householder's form and so copied it out wrong?

Could be. All of the other names are correct and the ages are about right. Wish it said more than Cornwall.

Bordesley is not far from Aston in Birmingham so looks likely.

I saw another Alfred Martin in Ladywood but there were more children and mother was Charlotte with no place of birth iirc.

I've just seen the probate calender on the second one and definitely not him.

I don't know how much you have on this family, Marg, but the baptisms are non-conformist on Cornwall OPC.

Matilda Agusta Louisa
Launceston, Christian Bible circuit
Baptised at parents' house
10 July 1860

Frederick George
7 April 1868 parents' house
Father carpenter

Francis
7 April 1868
Parents' house

James Albert Victor
15 December 1871
Southpetherwin village
Father carpenter

Alfred Augustus
19 July 1877
Parents' house
Father carpenter

So it looks like the family found on the census.

Ive only just started on this family Elizabeth. It's my friends tree. Daphne gave me the link to the Cornwall OPC yesterday. I've been studying Nancy's family all day, Venning's. I've found on Google this evening that the Venning family have had a farm at St Clether in Cornwall for 300 years and still do. My friend is over the moon.

As an aside, Bible Christians were a sect of the Methodist Church.

Yes, I realise that now. Still not found Samuel's death or burial.
