I don't have Ancestry at the moment, sorry.

I'm after Edward MOORE and/or Esme MOORE (nee NEW, if that pops up at all) about 1944 in or around Cootamundra, NSW.

I really thought they should be in Rockhampton, Qld, but have found a possible son saying he was born Dec 1944 in Cootamundra.

Son may still be alive so won't put his name but he won't be on the roll anyway.

Thank you.

Lib. NSW isn't the best place for the ER transcripts but you might be lucky.
What are their Years of Birth and did they have 2nd names?

What's Edward's date of birth.

Can't see an Esme Moore at all. Is Esme second name?

Edward is Edward James MOORE....born 1922in Toowoomba Qld. He married Esme NEW, I believe in Rockhampton and they had one son about 1944/45. I believe 3rd Dec 1944. He could well be still living, but has changed his surname to that of his stepfather's.

I am just wondering if a Edward and/or Esme (she may have been younger than 21) was living in that area around 1944/45.

Ancestry doesn't have 1944-5 e rolls for either NSW or Queensland - both jump from 1943 to 1949.

Seems to be only 1943 electors roll coming up on ancestry.

I can only find 2 Edward Moores in 1943 in NSW.

No Esme's though.

You could try the "Ask a Librarian" service; they will do ER look-ups for registers that aren't online, but I think you have to know the area where the person was living.

What about the war - did they actually produce any in 1944/5?

No idea; from a quick google, all I've found is references to the one in 1943.

Thanks guys. I have been told I can ring the Dept of Defence and they will tell me who is written as next of kin if there are two names the same on the nominal roll. I am looking for the son and have found two on the Vietnam roll. I know he went, so will just do that. Thanks again.

Lib I found Esme New on Trove .. Have you got that? She had been holidaying with her parents and it gave the location.

Lib these give you age and dob .. She disappears after Feb 1940 .. very strange that the marriage didn’t appear in the social column. Although it could be there and hasn’t been correctly transcribed.
