1871 has her born Birmingham, niece of the widowed Mark. She is the sole executrix of his will, proved in 1872.

Martha Wheeler was nee Cooper.

Louisa appears to be the daughter of Joseph Payton and Eliza Hillman.

Niece? Great niece? As Mark came from Dudley and Martha from Norfolk, I assume that Louisa is related to him, but how?

She's probably the dau of Joseph Payton and Louisa Wheeler who married in 1835 in St Peter and St Paul Aston. They are together with their dau in 1841 and 1851, but in 1851 the father is listed as James not Joseph. he is a Jeweller both times round.

I'm more interested in his son, also Mark.

This is the text of a newspaper article:

Named in anewspaper notice of 1887 as out of communication with the rest of the family.

Martha died in 1864, her husband in 1872. I would have expected the son to be executor of Mark's will, but it is Louisa who proves it. I do wonder whether Mark junior was even living by 1872.

Well, I haven't taken all that in, but Mark jr was Mark John Wheeler at baptism (1824 St Marylebone) so I expect this is him:

Which must mean that the Mark junior floating around in the newspapers is another Mark, son of Mark. The draper/grocer family.

A bit sad that the family had lost touch over thirty years ago.
