The PCC will of spinster, Esther Bishop of Melcombe regis, Dorset, written in 1777 mentions her niece, Sarah the wife of John Kingsbury.

There are baptisms for children of John and Sarah Kingsbury at Wyke Regis and Melcombe Regis between 1762 and 1775 and a possible burial for Sarah Kingsbury in 1786 (no age or anything else given).

I'm trying to find a marriage for John and Sarah and am hoping Sarah is Sarah Bishop, dau of Esther's brother John Bishop, who was bap in 1738. I don't have any other Sarah's in this part of my tree* and I know this Sarah was living and apparently was also single in 1759 (will of her uncle, Bernard Bishop signed April 1759). That makes a potentially very small timeframe for the marriage of 1759/62ish.

* the only family I don't know anything about is Esther's sibling James Bishop. James doesn't seem to have been baptised, but is included in his brother Bernard's will which describes him as 'James Bishop of London', so I suppose he could have had a dau Sarah too.

Popping out now, so not ignoring!

Ah, I've found the administration for John Bishop (1772) which tells me one of his daughters was Sarah, the wife of John Kingsbury, so at least I now know I have the right Sarah, even if I don't know when (if!) they were married.

Thanks Terri, I just found it there too, plus this one for Sarah's sister (also mentioned in the administration:

Jonathan BUSSELL of W.R. & Elizabeth BISHOP of Weymouth married 01-Jan 1764 by Licence

I now need to find them in the images on ancestry!! (I guess they are going to be missing!)

That Dorset OPC site is brilliant though! Wish every county had one like that.
