but there is no marriage record onLan-opc or on freebmd.org...

can I ask why these banns records are shown if they didn't marry ??
or
can someone find the marriage ??...have I missed something ?

The banns are recorded because they were called, but I can't see the couple actually married.

Do you know any more about them so we can look at the following census?

Hmm, I've been searching for a few of the other couples whose banns are listed on that image, and not found actual marriages for any of them yet, only banns. So I wonder whether the marriage records got lost?

There don't seem to be any entry numbers missing from the church register around that date so scrap that idea!

I wonder if the vicar kept a separate banns book for couples he didn't think would make it to the altar (not a serious suggestion, by the way).

Thanks everyone - I was looking at James Connolly - not an uncommon name in Liverpool because so many Irish came here ....a James Connolly marrying a Mary ...so many of them ...it is not my direct family so it is not that important - I will leave this topic alone for a while - there are other rellies more important
thanks again - I was more curious as to whether I had missed a marriage for this couple re the spelling of Connolly / Connelly /Donnolley/Donelley....
