I realise this topic has probably already been covered here but (hopefully in my defense) I am a newby to this forum and still finding my way around but I wonder if someone could point me in the direction of where to look for pre WW1 military records. For instance, I know I have at least one relative who served in the Norfolk Regiment from 1886 to 1898 and, despite searches online I have been unable to find any information.

Also, and a different subject, does anyone know if there exists anywhere a record/map of unconsecrated burials.

Thanks again folks for all your help.

Find My Past has British Army Service Records from 1760-1915. If you let us know the name, members here can search for you.

Ok Shona that's great thank you so much. I believe Find My Past is offering some free access this weekend so I will see what I can find out if I have no luck I will certainly ask on here I am just aware that I have so many questions and I don't want to overuse the generosity of members.

There are a few on here:

And if you go onto TNA's catalogue search and type in "Unconsecrated" as your search term, loads of results come up.

Thanks Kiterunner, I have contacted the owner of the granthams website and am waiting for a reply, he does have one Norfolk story but not mine I just thought that these burials must be recorded somewhere? Part of my problem is that I have very few hard facts just family disjointed family stories. Thanks again.
