the third entry for 1601, son of Anthony Pitman - the name I read it as is not what it has on family search, and Ancestry doesn't seem to have transcribed it at all, I'm just trawling through the images.

Any ideas, please?

Ah, that muddies the waters! familysearch has William, which just doesn't fit. I saw the ch in the middle and thought it was probably Richard, but Nicholas also fits the ch. Looking again, I agree the last letter doesn't look like a d, so I suspect you two are right.
