Another lot seem to have left the UK:

Joseph Jefferies b 1810 Mangotsfield, Gloucestershire, tailor
Hannah Jefferies (nee Knapp) b 1811 Mangotsfield, Glouc

According to the 1851 census their children were all b in Bitton (Glouc) but were all bap in Mangotsfield, Glouc:

Eliza 1832
Ann 1833
Sarah1837
Robert Henry 1839
Leonard 1842
Emily 1844
Margaret 1845
Hannah Knapp 1847

Where did they go?

Oh, Joseph's parents were James Jeffferies and Elizabeth nee Sandill. Hannah's parents were Thomas Knapp and Margaret nee ?.

For a start, Hannah Knapp Jefferies married Thomas Goodwin in 1885 in Victoria, Australia. You could pay to view the marriage cert on Victoria BDM, but we can probably find out more without needing to do that now that we know which country to look at!

If you search on Trove for phrase Joseph Jefferies, with the word Richmond, lots of matches come up. I've not got time to look at them all now as I have to go out, but here is one to be going on with:

The Argus, Melbourne, Victoria, 1 Feb 1881
Deaths
JEFFERIES - On the 30th ult, at 314 Church-street, Richmond, Hannah, the beloved wife of Joseph Jefferies, in her 69th year.

Hannah Jefferies died in 1881.

This notice for the death of Joseph is the right person as the names of the married daughters match up, but the notice was inserted by his widow, so he must have remarried, but he was pretty old and I can't find anything, so have I gone wrong somewhere?

There are at least two possible marriages in Victoria: one to Hellen Mary Annie King in 1882 and one to Ann Clarke in 1884, plus a couple of others with different spellings of his surname.

I'm obviously having problems with the search then, as I couldn't get any results. :o:o:o

I'll have another look at Trove to see if I can find out more.

Thanks Mary.

I found those on Ancestry, and two hits for that time span also come up on the Victoria BDM site. No hits if you add his father's name, but I'm not sure if that would be included in the indexes at that time.
