John Henry Close

was born c1874 to Jane Close in Lincoln. Jane married John's putative father father, George Clayton, 24/04/1877. On the 1881 census John is listed with George and Jane as 'son in law'. Then he disappears off the face of the earth.

Can't find him on any further censuses, can't find a death for him and can't find a marriage for him.

Any ideas please?

There is a John Clayton age 17 born Lincoln in Lincoln Prison in 1891. Occupation Labourer.

I wonder if he changed his name and that;s why I can't find him on the censuses. Will have to look more at that.
