Can anyone find a marriage between Nicholas Randall and a female Andrew from c. 1600 to 1635 in Sussex? I have a son-in-law mentioned in a will but no daughter. :(

I can't find one, sorry, Elizabeth. Maybe he was a second or third husband, though - life expectancy was pretty short in those days so it seems to have been pretty common for people to be widowed once or twice. I did try looking for a previous Andrew marriage to match up with possible wives in Sussex but got nowhere.

Thanks for looking, Kate. The RO are sending me another copy of the will as it was badly affected by damp, it seems, as a lot of the ink has run. They have scanned it so it might be clearer to read.

This one looks possible Elizabeth:

12 Jun 1609 Nicholas Randoll to Katherine Andrewe at Bepton, which is the next parish to the west of Cocking (from the Sussex Marriage Index).

There is a marriage at Bepton (W. Sussex) 12 Jun 1609 for
Nicholas Randoll to Katherine Andrewe
There are two other 'Nicholas Randall' marriages in that time frame
1611 at Cocking to Margaret Swaine and 1613/4 at Rogate to Katherine Heather

Thank you so much, Jill and Sussex Maid. That is the one. John Andrew, her father, was my 10x-great-grandfather and I have his will. He lived in Bepton, and then my branch under his son William went to Cocking. His eldest child seems to have been Katherine and I didn't have a spouse or burial for her. She was baptised in 1584.

Ann, thanks - I found that this afternoon when I was doing a blanket search for Bepton (which seems to have had a couple of aliases!).
