The family story as I heard it was that Jane married "Lord" MacLeod. They had no children, so he divorced her. She went on to marry TOM Lanning and promptly had ten children. Not only is the order of the spouses wrong, but Tom Lanning of the story was probably her son, and the teller of the story (I heard it from George Henry Mason, her great-great grandson) was collating the stories of more than one female ancestor.

It is only thanks to members of this site that we know Jane's surname. Knowing it, we were off like terriers.

This site hasn't been updated, but Mary Clement was a sister of Jane. They both married musicsmiths and c 1800 were both in Brook St, Hampstead Road
