Why would it say Episcopal Church in England when it was in a church in Glasgow, Scotland and both parties were Scottish through and through?

This link appears to mention the church, at least in passing:

I haven't read it in full, but it suggest that episcopalian (ie with bishops) churches were unusual in that neck of the woods

Interesting thank you.

I've been Googling for Britain and didn't come up with anything that made any sense to me.

Edit to say:

...and there it is the very church in Bridgeton ...

"Another great work was Christ Church in the East End. It began in 1835 on Main Street in Bridgeton and had a chapel on Claythorn Street. The church was consecrated in 1856..."

Well its very complicated what an interesting site.

The history of the Church in Scotland is exceedingly complicated. If you didn't catch part 1 of Neil Oliver's second series of the history of Scotland, I recommend you find it on the BBC iPlayer. He was dealing with the period from the Stuart monarchs to William of Orange, when bishops came and went at frequent intervals. I did once come across a chart showing all the schisms and amalgamations, and it looked like a cat's cradle.

Very.

Looks like they have wiped out most of the Episcopal Churches...

"Christ Church initially survived the bulldozers of East End renewal and stood, a gaunt improbability in a waste of desolation, for years - - but now it, too, is gone. And so are Holy Trinity, and St.John's, and St.Paul's, ..."
