Apparently according to the TV this morning there are changes coming in in October 2014 regarding Intestate and distribution of assets etc.

This is first I've heard of it so haven't got a link to clarify what was said.

I was reading an article about it the other day, Julie. At the moment, a surviving spouse gets up to £250,000, and if there is more, it is divided between the spouse and the children, but the spouse's share of that part is only a lifetime interest, and that is going to change so that the spouse will inherit the capital instead of just the interest. If there are no children, then at the moment the spouse inherits up to £450,000 and then the rest is split between the spouse and other relatives, but now the spouse will inherit everything.

Here is a link to the article that I read:

It has never ceased to astonish me that people who have wives, children and property, do not bother to make a Will, then bleat about how unfair the Intestacy rules are.

If you don't want some government body deciding where your money goes when you are dead, then make a Will! Simple!
