Could sks have a look to see whether this Wickham family is on a passenger list from Ireland to New Zealand about 1901-2, please.

Edmund was born in Ireland and is on the 1901 (31st March) census aged 2:
with parents:
...............James (48) & Elisha (50)
and siblings:
................Maggie 14
................Katie 13
................Philip 10

Both Frank and Edmund have the middle name of Loftus.

There was a Frank Loftus Wickham born in NZ in 1902. The boys both married cousins from my tree and I would like to prove they were brothers.

Thanks.

The only Frank Loftus Wickham birth I can see on NZ BDM around that time is in 1904, parents James Loftus Carr Wickham and Alice Maud. They also had a son Edmund Channing Wickham born 1902. But I can't see their marriage on NZ BDM. But it seems unlikely that James would have two Edmunds if the first one was still alive when the second one was born, though not impossible.

I'll look at passenger lists later but have to go shopping now.

You're right, Kate. That one was born 1904 in NZ. He then seems to have spent his life in Australia.

My Frank Loftus Wickham married Winifred A V Steffen in 1940 and seemed to stay in London.

An odd coincidence of name. They're surely connected somewhere.

So do you still want passenger lists looked at, Sarah?

If it's not too much trouble, Kate. I'd like to see if James Wickham & family went out there.
Just to be sure.

If you don't have time, don't worry.

James is still at the same place in Ireland in 1911:

(edit - and they don't have a Frank with them)

I can't find them on a passenger list (yet). I don't know whether there are any that aren't listed on the UK departure lists though.

There is a possible death for James Wickham Jul-Sep 1914 Wexford age 65. And for Alice Wickham Apr-Jun 1929 Wexford age 82.

Going back a little bit, there is an Edmund Loftus Wickham who died Oct-Dec 1891 age
75 in Limerick, so maybe they are all related to him?

And now I'm getting confused - I also found an Edmund Loftus Wickham on the 1901 Irish census age 12, in County Limerick, son of Eugene Alexander and Helen.

And still there in 1911 (again, no Frank with the family):

OMG - I'm going to have to delve a little deeper aren't I?

And there I was, thinking the 'Loftus' bit was a gift to make things easier....

Thanks for your help, Kate.

probably of no use to you at all - but very common names here in Garston,Liverpool - Loftus and Wickham
you have asked for Ireland to New Zealand passenger lists
could they have sailed from Liverpool?....it was common knowledge that many Irish came to Liverpool to work for a year to accumulate enough money to pay for their passage to USA /Canada/Australia / New Zealand - could this be one of those cases ??...
