25th of the Old Boys of St Wilfrid's, Haywards Heath to die in WW1.
George was born on 10 Jul 1896, elder of the two sons of bootmaker Charles Frederick Watts and his wife Alice Jane (formerly Knight) and was christened at St Wilfrid’s, Haywards Heath on 9 Aug 1896. In 1901 the family lived in South Road along with his grandfather Stephen Knight who was a carpenter. By 1911 his father had become a greengrocer and they had moved to 34 Blatchington Road, Hove.
George died of wounds near Loos, France on 28 Sep 1915 aged 19. He is buried at Bailleul Communal Cemetery Nord, grave II. A. 19. He was a cousin of Albert James Watts (http://www.genealogistsforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=22418&highlight=albert+james+Watts) and Arthur George Knight V.C. who also attended our school and died in the war.
George’s father Charles was sent his effects of £3 3s on 30th November 1915 and a War Gratuity of £3 10s on 14 August 1919.
