I'm just trying to tidy up some lose ends.

I have George Alfred Buck marrying Eliza Martha Williams in London in 1855.

I have details of their first three children from the GRO, LMA baptisms and 1861 census:

Edith Ada b 27 Jun 1856 in Pancras District
Charles Martin b 5 Jan 1858 in St Geo Hanover Sq district
Richard Montague Buck b 19 Sept 1860 in New Zealand

On the 1861 census the family are on a boat/ship called "Hound" which was at sea on the night of 7 April. They were in the UK for the baptism of Richard Montague Buck on 21 July 1861 in Ealing.

After this I lose track of the family until the parents die in NSW Australia (Eliza Martha in 1895 and George Alfred in 1900.

I'm trying to discover in which country/countries the rest of their children (listed below) were born and, in the case of George Henry and Marjorie, where they died?(apparently not in NSW):

George Henry Buck b 31-Oct-1862 d aged 10
Mary Cornelia Buck b 10-May-1864 d 22-May-1893
Horace Buck b 7-Aug-1865
Marjorie Buck b 1873 d 1874

There's a Mary Florence Cornelia Buck b 1864 (but Q1 not Q2) in Staines district who I can't yet eliminate.

Also a Horace Walter Buck in the correct Q of 1865 in Pancras district, but I can't find a baptism for him.

The only other clue is on the GRO entry for the parents marriage, George Alfred's forenames are recorded as Alfred George.

I'm not very practiced at Australian research and also don't have any worldwide subs so could do with some help :D

On goggling Richard Montague Buck I see there are some refs to his death in 1892 in Nelson Australia which I think is in Victoria. I can't get on with the Victorian GRO site :o:o:o

I did try to find Richard's death on the Victoria site without any success.

Did you take this in, Merry? Starts after about 20 lines, under Assaults.
Richard Montague Buck - Christchurch 1881 (http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/paperspast?a=d&d=CHP18811004.2.18)

Ah, thanks Janet! I had read that before but had forgotten all about it and never saved it, so I will this time.

Apart from anything else (;() it tells me of an older and younger sister, suggesting Edith A and Mary C were the sisters in question.

I note Richard was stated to be 17 when he was actually 21!!! lol

I can't find a Richard Buck death on Victoria BDM, nor on the New Zealand BMD site.

The 1881-2 electoral register for St Albans, Canterbury, New Zealand, lists Charles Martin Buck, George Alfred Buck and Richard Montague Buck all clerks, all at Aikman's Road.

Mary's name on her grave is Mary Florence Corne Buck, according to Find a Grave.

New Zealand BDM has the birth of an Annie Beatrice Buck in 1879, parents George Alfred and Eliza Martha.

New Zealand BDM also has the death of George Henry Buck in 1872, age 10.

The Australian Marriage Index on ancestry has Richd Montague Buck marrying a Roberta Frances Morrisby in Victoria in 1892. But they seem to have some of the given names on that index in the wrong order, so her name could be Frances Roberta.

Anyway, their NSW Index to Deceased Estate Files has Frances Roberta Buck, widow, residence Mosman, date of death 13/10/1938. She is also listed on their Australian Death Index for 1938, Mosman NSW, parents Charles and Anne.

Frances Buck is listed in the Australian e rolls at 91 Shadforth Street, Mosman, NSW, from 1930 onwards. Charles Martin Buck listed at 1 Milton Avenue, Mosman, with an Isabella Francis Buck.

If you search for Richard Montague Buck on Trove (Australian newspaper archive), you will get a few hits showing that he was a conveyancing clerk for a firm called Norton, Smith & Co, and there is a piece about the will of one Sir John Hay who added a codicil in 1908 leaving £100 to Richard. So I don't think he died in 1892, that's just when he got married. But he must have died between 1908 and 1938, probably before 1930 since he doesn't appear on the 1930 e roll with Frances.

When I lived in Christchurch the mayor was Vicky Buck, I wonder if any of yours stayed in the area.

George Henry Buck was buried 10 October 1872 in the Barbados Street cemetery in Christchurch

Annie Beatrice Buck was buried 12 Feb 1880 age 6 months, she is also in the Barbados Street cemetery

There is a Mary Buck died 27 July 1887 age 25 buried in the Addington cemetery which is not far from the Barbados Street cemetery.

Oh, that's great - thanks.

Mary's name on her grave is Mary Florence Corne Buck, according to Find a Grave.

So, she was born here and died in NSW.

I wonder than if her elder brother, George Henry Buck b 31-Oct-1862 whose death you found, Kate, was also born here? I bet this is him....

Births Dec 1862
BUCK George Henry Pancras 1b 21

In which case, it's likely Horace Buck and Horace Walter Buck are the same person.

No worries Merry, I did look at this thread before, but today is the first time I have had time to play around with Trove for any length of time.

I could look more if you are still looking for the Bucks

The only one I have nothing on is Marjorie Buck b 1873 d 1874, but the trouble is I don't even know which side of the world she was born!

I probably don't need further info on the others at the moment as the are a fairly distant twig.

Thanks again :)

Merry, I've just seen this thread. If you want any further information on the Bucks who lived at Inverell, I have connections with the FHS there so let me know. Julie
