appears in the Dorset QS records rather too many times for my comfort.

Could someone tell me why she is there? Along with husband Stephen?

I found one reference to Lydia Oyles in the Dorset Quarter Session records. Can't read it all, but here's what it says:

'To prepare a bill of ???? Thos Farrow of Lydlinch, yeoman, for an assault and misdemeanor on ??? Lydia Oyles.'

I think it says:

'To prepare a bill of indictment against Thos Farrow of Lydlinch aforesaid, yeoman, for an assault and misdemeanour on ye said Lydia Oyles.'

I too can only see one entry. Where were you looking, Phoenix?

Oh dear. Lydia's bastard daughter is born October 1759. Father not Stephen (nor Thomas Farrow)
She marries Stephen November 1759.
There is a bastardy bond 1760.
The parish pay for the maintenance of her bastard daughter.

This could have been a one off, but it sounds as if she were no better than she should be.

These all appear with the same reference, so they might all refer to the same incident:

Ancestry have transcribed Thos Farrow as Thos Farvas. Like Shona, I read his name as Farrow, but there are no other entries for Thomas Farrow, whilst there are others for Tho* Farvas, Farves, Farvis, etc so Farrow might perhaps be incorrect!

This might be Lydia being put out as a servant?

Lydia Trim 1755

That makes more sense. Thomas Farves was a churchwarden.

The three entries you have for Lydia and the three for Stephen all relate to the same case. (Looks more like Thomas Tarves on closer examination!). Thomas seems to be found not guilty for his 'assault and attempt to ravish' Lydia (I think the not guilty refers to his case and not the one written above?)

Do you need the details for Daniel and John too?

Lydia Trim 1755

Given that I'm not the best at transcribing old court records, this one looks as if John Pyne (?) the younger, labourer of Lidlinch, is being named as the father of Lydia Trim's bastard child.

A Lydia Trim of Pullham had John and Anne, baseborn, baptised on 17 May 1755. Anne was buried on 23 May and John on 30 May.

Is this the same Lydia Trim?

Then there is the 1759 birth of Ruth Richards to Lydia Trim.

Ooh thank you, Shona!

It looks like Pulham is the same general area and there is a baptism for Lydia 1736/7 which looks about right.

So, three bastard children and one attempt to embroil a respectable man?

The father of Lydia's daughter, Ruth Richards, is Charles Richards.
