Yet another dubious character.

Bap 1829, Salisbury.

In Salisbury 1851.
In Salisbury (& in trouble!) 1869.

Missing in between. He is quite possibly another soldier that the army did not want.

By 1871 he is Barnard St, Salisbury, with wife Mary & children:
Celia E b 1865 Erith, Kent
Henry W b 1868 Northfleet Kent

By 1881 they also have Alfred
Alfred Joseph b Salisbury 1872

I cannot find a convincing birth reg for Celia at all.
There is a birth reg for Henry William Trusler (giving mother as Flora - I think nee Spicer)

Henry marries Mary Turner in Salisbury in 1877.

No trace of Henry on FMP in 1861.

BUT Ancestry has a Henry Trusler b Wiltshire 1841, somewhere in Northants. Can anyone see what this says?

His age could be anything as it is obscured by thick black lines. Married, occupation Ship Keeper, born Wiltshire Salbury. He is the only person present on the Caspian of Liverpool, master Hugh Conison(?). One crew member absent on shore.

Celia and Henry jr's birthplaces on the 1871 are the other way round from how you have posted them, Phoenix.

And this should be Celia's birth reg (from FreeBMD):

Births Mar 1865
Trusler Cecilia Elizabeth, N. Aylesford 2A 366

Dur *goes into the garden to eat worms*

My pitiful defence is that Northfleet was at one stage in Dartford RD - though not until a little later.

Thank you very much, Kite!

By the way, UK Census Online and Family Relatives list that 1861 census "ship keeper" as age 30 and in Essex, not Northants. Seems more likely for a ship! I couldn't see anything on the image to say it was Northants so most likely an ancestry error.

OOh, thanks! That would make much more sense. The trouble is that most of the non Sussex group of Truslers are Northants.

Found him!

Henry Wisher, aged 50!!!!

Thanks, Kite!

Especially as I have now discovered how to search by birthplace, reference etc.

And I have his signature.
And he was just what it says: the Caspian had arrived from Cairo on 19th March & reached Gravesend. Henry was just a labourer, looking after the ship for the night.

Yay! Much more info than if he'd been an ag lab!
