9th of the Old Boys of my school to die in WW1.

Born in St Ives, Huntingdonshire in 1893 to Arthur and Lizzie Harrison, his father was a basketmaker and in 1901 they lived in Kents Road, Haywards Heath. He had a sister and brother who died as young children. By 1911 when Cyril was 17 the family lived at 2 Western Road and Cyril was working as a grocer’s apprentice.

Cyril was sent abroad on 4 Jan 1915 and was killed in action on 9 May 1915 near Le Touret, France, he has no known grave but is commemorated in the Le Touret Memorial. His parents also had to endure the death of another son, Reginald, in 1917 aged 16 though this was not war related, which left their son Leslie the only one of their 5 children alive.

His mother Lizzie received his outstanding pay £5 1s 1d and a War Gratuity of £3.
