Hmm, I hope they make the new records easily searchable.

How will we know how to filter to find these new records?

It doesn't matter to be as I don't have a world sub. Are they saying you can only view the new records if you d have a world sub? Surely some of the records will be to so with Britain?

Aha! I have now looked better at the e-mails as I have now had two! One was from the au site and one from the ie site. I had registered with both the Australian and the Irish sites but didn't take out subscriptions.

Are some of them likely to be "old" UK databases which were previously unavailable on the international sites, I wonder?

I know how to find new databases on FamilySearch and ancestry, but I rely on the news section on FMP's front page for theirs so will have to see if there is another way as I doubt they will add a news item for every one of those 100 databases.

As for world subscription, it will be free to search the databases, and if there are only a few non-UK records you want to view, you can use some credits.

Ah, luckily they are going to have a list of them on here:
http://100in100.findmypast.co.uk/

and they have started with some "Pals Battalions" from WW1 (off to update the links on the WW1 board...)

Ah, so the UK stuff is going to be available on the UK site.

Thanks to the link to the list.

I have a world sub and I had a british sub before things were changed.

I thought that British subs were converted to a world sub so that the only 2 subs were world or US/Canada. Have I misunderstood?

Kit, I presume that those are the only 2 options on the US site, while the UK site will have options of a UK sub or a world one, the Australian site will have options of an Aus sub or world one, and the Irish site will have options of an Irish sub or a world one.

Strange, I was logged in to the UK site when I saw the options. Maybe with the merger and because I at one time had a US sub it is showing incorrectly.

Edit - now it is showing me only world or UK subs but wont let me chose a UK sub. :(
