...get the info I need to be able to order a will?

I've done it before - I have a feeling I needed someone to look up a reference in an RO ???

I have a memory like a sieve - and I haven't done any research for ages...

it's for the TOGG ;)

you need a (at least vague) date of death and then you need sks to look on the national probate calendar for you. That should give you the info you need to order it, if there is one.

She's not around at the moment, but you need to ask Kite if you want to check whether there is a will or not. If there is, you write off to York, just quoting the name of the deceased & date of probate. (and possibly other details from the index if the name is common)

you can download the application form from t'net and it costs £5 (for the will, not to download....)

I'm sure I'll be calling in at the local record office soon, Sarah, so give me the details and I'll look it up. If it's a TOGG entry then I would probably note down the info from your thread and look it up anyway, by the way.

I'm sure you've already got it, but have you see this for a Barnabas Burroughes? http://www.noah.norfolk.gov.uk/ShowImage_books.aspx?img=http://nsources.norfolk.gov.uk/probate/wills/GS_0167219/038

Bit earlier, but it has links to Attleboro'

Thanks Phoenix :) - I don't have a will but I do have three consecutive Barnabus Burroughes' !! I can't get the page to come up from the link you posted - I'll try again later, I think it's a problem on the NOAH site.

Rosie, sorry, but there was no entry for George William Kelly between 1922 and 1925.

It looks as though Norfolk Record Office only has copies of wills up to 1941 so you would need to order it from the Probate Service. The details are on here:
http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/cms/1226.htm
and the form you want is a PA1S.
