For Take 2 5xgreat-grandparents this week I'm looking at the parents of this girl, and the mother is Nanny.

I'm looking for a likely marriage and can't find a John Haworth marrying a Nanny, but I can find an Ann.

How confident can I be that it is Nanny?

Nanny was interchangeable with Ann, just like Betty / Elizabeth. But with common names like those, you need to make sure there is only one couple.

Thanks, Kate. I think it probably is the right one, but there are a lot of Haworths in Church Kirk. Sorting the children out will be more problematic as no mothers' names are given.

I had a problem with a Nanny and she turned out to be Nancy as well.. Not sure which was correct. Julie (this was in Yorkshire)

Yes, Nancy was another variant of Ann.

Nanny and Nancy were pet names for Ann/Anne.
