There is a tree on Ancestry that gives John's burial date as 8 Dec 1811. On the same tree there is a photo of a Will of John Bown, Horsley which looks to me as if it was proved in 1769. I'd be grateful if someone else could to take a look. http://trees.ancestry.co.uk/tree/18444952/person/660473723/fact/14220095336 If it is 1769 it's unlikely to be my "John Bown" as he and Margaret were producing children until 1780! The problem is that John, and his father, both came from large families and most of their siblings named some of their children John and Daniel which makes it very difficult to work out who's who!
