Best mate has received this snippet of information:

baptism at the Congregational Church in Castle Camps, Cambridgeshire for Jane Mahala LANING, on 27 Mar 1853, she was born 4 Oct 1834 in London, imputed father ? CLARKE.

We don't know where it originates. Does anyone know where this database might be? We have a surfeit of ghostly Jane Lannings who glimmer faintly and then disappear. If DOB is correct, I have no idea who this one is, or where she might be on any census. Any bright ideas?

She would be related to, but surely not the same person as, this Jane ANN Lanning: http://www.genealogistsforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=11849&highlight=lanning

Found the entry on FMP, but am nowhere near understanding it.

That entry does appear on the Cambs FHS database of entries, designed to encourage the purchase of a CD. The search is here:

Cambs FHS (http://www.cfhs.org.uk/index.cfm?tag=1)

Could you have got the entry from someone who has the CD?

No, I hadn't seen it, Janet, but I think it explains where the info came from.:)
