John Haines and Ann unknown

John Haines and Ann are the parents of Hannah Haines who was baptised in North Petherton, Somerset, on 31 May 1761.

FamilySearch has the baptism of a John Haines 30 Sep 1720 at North Petherton, parents Wm and Susannah. But there seem to be loads of Haineses at North Petherton so this might not be the same John.

A lot of public trees on ancestry have the couple as John Haines baptised 30 Oct 1726 North Petherton, son of William and Susanna (or variations thereof), and Ann Orchard baptised 15 Apr 1733 at North Petherton, daughter of John and Anne, with John Haines' marriage to Ann Orchard 14 Oct 1754 North Petherton. Children Jane, Mary, Samuel, Thomas, John, John, Gregory, and Hannah. John dying 1809 North Petherton and Ann 1794. But this would all need checking against the PR's / BT's. FreeREG's North Petherton transcriptions don't go back far enough at the moment, but there is an OPC who might be able to help:

I have searched the Dwelly's transcripts and what Parish Transcriptions I have of North Petherton and can confirm the following (there is some surname spelling variants):

Hannah Haynes was baptised on 31 May 1761, daughter of John and Ann.

John Hains married an Ann Orchard on the 24 Oct 1754 (the marriage was by Banns, the witnesses were Samuel Slocombe & John Yendole and there is a note that the marriage was by the consent of the parents).

Have found the following entries as possible children for the marriage:

1) John Hains son of John and Ann, baptised 26 Apr 1755 (possible burial 14 Sep 1755).
2) John Haynes son of John and Ann, baptised 24 Oct 1756 (possible burial 24 Jul 1757).
3) John Haynes son of John and Ann, baptised 14 Jan 1759.
4) Hannah Haynes daughter of John and Ann, baptised 31 May 1761.

I cannot find any other entries in North Petherton for possible children to John and Ann.

I cannot find any entries for the parents John or Ann being buried at North
Petherton.

I cannot find a baptism for a John Haines in 1726, but the William and Susannah did have the following children (including a John six years earlier than the one you quoted):

1) John Haines baptised 30 Sep 1720.
2) Rosehannah Haines baptised 15 Sep 1722.
3) Francis Haines baptised 18 Sep 1724.
4) Hannah Haines baptised 3 Apr 1727.
5) William Haines baptised 30 Mar 1731.
6) William Haines baptised 17 Feb 1733.

As for Ann Orchard, I found the following:

1) Anne Orchard baptised 19 Apr 1731 daughter of John (no wife listed, as was sometimes the case).
2) Anne Orchard baptised 15 Apr 1733 daughter of John and Anne (no other children listed).
