Nothing added to BK6 from this thread

I had to delay our roast from lunchtime, so I'm cooking it now, but have just found this lead and wondered if anyone else wants to have a look and see if they can work out who this person is whilst I eat all the bread sauce before the chicken is cooked!

I have a photo of John Burrup in my Maynard photo album. Having investigated the photographer I know it was taken 1892-95 and the man looks late 60s to me. I think it must be John Burrup b Clapham/Brixton 1820 to 1900 as his mother seems to have been a Mary Maynard. Hopefully she is connected to me as this album belonged to my Maynard ancestors (unless it's a total red herring - Maynard being a reasonably common name!)

All I've had time to do is find an entry in The Times 3rd Sept 1819:

On Thursday, the 2nd inst, at St Mary's Lambeth, Mr John Burrup, late of Clapham, to Mary, second daughter of William Maynard Esq of Brixton, Surrey.

The children of John and Mary Burrup come up in the non-conformist records on FamilySearch.

Thank you Elizabeth! That's a great start. Typical that Mary should die young though.

I haven't been able to find her baptism, though.:(

Just been eating - will return when I can but tonight the TV calls (which is unusual!).

I'm pleased you found her, Merry.

How does she fit in with your Maynards??;):D:D *runs away*

Mary's eldest sibling appears to be William b 1797. Her parents are probably Wm Maynard and Mary Crow who were married at St Giles, Camberwell in 1796. He was of Chrstchurch and the marriage was by licence. The witnesses were a serial one called Young and a Crow.

Hmmmm.....if this is the man who married in 1796 then he's older than I expected and it's going to be difficult to force him into my tree!!

First name(s): William
Last name MAYNARD
Date of burial: 7 November 1834
Place of burial Bunhill Fields
Age at death: 82
Approximate year of birth: 1752
Address at death: Brixton (Vault Opened)(Esq)
Record source City of London Burials

.....and if this is the other man:

First name(s): William
Last name MAYNARD
Date of burial: 13 July 1792
Place of burial Bunhill Fields
Age at death: 69
Approximate year of birth: 1723
Address at death: Bennett St, Christ Church, Surrey (Vault Op)
Record source City of London Burials

....then he clashes with my 4xg-grandfather, William Maynard, who married in 1737 and died in about 1766.

Obviously I can't be sure these are the right people, but it's not looking good to work them in. Maybe the red herrings I mentioned at the beginning?!

The older of those two William's was a shipwright at an earlier point in his life (son's apprenticeship papers)

(If they are the same people, that is!)
