My 6x-great-grandparents

I'm trying to sort them out and separate them from my 5x-great-grandfather William Hatch who married Christian Winter
http://www.genealogistsforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=18460&page=3

Probable baptism:
26 October 1686 St Peter, Bramshaw, Hampshire

No parents given, but other children baptised at Bramshaw at that time had Nicholas Hatch as their father.
Mother probably Joane (from Nicholas Hatch's will 1701).

Extract from Nicholas Hatch's will confirms this:

"Item I doe give and bequeath unto my Son James Hatch
the Sum of fifty pounds of lawfull money of England
To be paid him when he is one & Twenty years
of age: Item I doe give & bequeath unto my Son
William Hatch the Sum of ffifty pounds to be paid
him when he is one and Twenty years of age And if it should
happen so that my sons James & William should dye before
they have lived into the age of one and Twenty years apiece
or either of them then their legacies or legacies shall be equally divided amongst the rest of my Children that are living "

William Hatch of Southwick married Mary Budd of West Tisted by licence on 10 October 1709 at St Maurice, Winchester:

William's will of 14th June 1754:

Ref No. P24/1022
Date 1754
Hatch, William, senior
Occupation Yeoman
Bramshaw/Hampshire

"I give and Bequeath the same Premises unto and amongst my Five Children and two Grandchildren William Hatch John Hatch Mary the wife of Richard New Martha the Wife of Edward Rookes Honour the Wife of Henry Witorn and James and Ann Hatch my Grandchildren"

William's connection with Bramshaw was widely known, but it is only with the above detail of the marriage that I looked at Southwick.

All baptised at Southwick:

20 July 1710 William Hatch (father blank)
15 Aug 1711 John son of William Hatch
6 Feb 1712/13 Mary daughter of William Hatch
14 December 1714 Martha daughter of William Hatch
3 December 1715 Hannah daughter of WIlliam Hatch
19 May 1717 William son of (blank) Hatch

The two Williams with no fathers entered are annoying.

However, these burials must be taken into consideration:
11 Mar 1711
John Hatch
Southwick, Hampshire

31 Dec 1713
Martha Hatch
Southwick, Hampshire

Baptised at Bramshaw to William and Mary:
1708 (no date) John but William and Mary didn't marry until 1709
14 Dec 1716 Mary Note the gap from the marriage
29 Mar 1720 James
18 Apr 1721 Thomas
20 May 1722 Martha
3 Mar 1723/25 Thomas
3 Jan 1725/25 Hannah or Honour

Mary Hatch (maiden name Budd) is buried at St Peter's, Bramshaw on 29th September 1728.

William Hatch took a second wife:

Name: William Hatch
Marriage Date: 21 Dec 1733
Parish: Broad Chalke
Residence: Bramshaw
Spouse: Sarah Holliday
Spouse Residence: Out of Wiltshire
Document Type: Licence
Notes: Sarah is of Newbridge, Hampshire

Sarah Hatch left a will.

Ref No. P24/1108
Court paper, will
1760
Hatch, Sarah
Widow
Bramshaw/Hampshire

I have no record of any children for William and Sarah.

Was William Hatch a butcher in his early days:

From the National Archives:

Unexecuted lease for 21 years from Richard Norton to William Hatch of Southwick, butcher, of a barn, gateroom and 40 acres called Ham in Southwick. 5M50/1841 25 June 1723

These documents are held at Hampshire Record Office

Transcription of Sarah's will via OPC. Lots of people mentioned. The step-children are mentioned, but no children from the second marriage.

I have both wills, Shona, and they are a mine of information.
What the link doesn't give is the complaint against John Hinnin's execution of the will - it is two and a half pages long.

On Family Search, the names of two of the children are left blank, but the father is named as William. They are recorded as births at Southwick not baptisms - same dates as you have.

... Hatch, born 20 July 1710, father William
John, born 15 August 1711, father William
Mary, born 6 February 1712, father Wiliam
Martha, born 4 December 1714, father William
Hannah, born 3 December 1715, father William
... Hatch, born 19 May 1717, father William

James and Ann, the grandchildren mentioned in William's will are the children of James Hatch and his wife Ann Goddard.

That's intruiging.

Thanks, Shona. I had discovered that James and Ann Hatch were James' children and I think I posted it on the other thread. I then realised I needed to split the two threads to avoid confusion.

I'm just going through all the burials for Hatch at Bramshaw to see who it throws up.

I have the CD for baptisms and it has "bn" against the baptisms for William 1710, John 1711, Mary 1712/13, Hannah 1717 and William 1717.
Not against Martha.
