I'd be very grateful if someone could give me the gist of the following:

http://search.ancestry.com.au/cgi-bin/sse.dll?rank=0&gsln=Former&rg_81004011__date=1890&gss=angs-g&pcat=ROOT_CATEGORY&recid=1686492&recoff=44+71+233&db=MediaStoryPublic

I'm still trying to work out whether this Henry Jackson belongs in my tree.

That link is for a biography of George Carson born 1841 attached to a public tree. Is that right?

I've copied it into some PMs and sent them to you, Elizabeth. You wouldn't have to be on Australian ancestry to access it as all ancestry content is available on all their sites - you just have to have a sub which can access it and if you change .com.au in the URL to .co.uk I think you would be able to see it with a UK sub. But have sent it to you in case you still can't access it that way.

Kate, safely received, and many thanks for going to so much trouble.
I'm not sure how my Google search got this, as I didn't google about this chap, so I'm going to have to read it carefully for clues!

That's why I was checking if it was right as it didn't refer to Henry Jackson.

Yes, Jay, it is very strange because my search was very specific, so I'm not sure how I came across this. I mentioned Heptonstall in my search terms.

Google often brings up unrelated Ancestry stuff in my experience.

Mary, thanks! I was thinking I had lost the plot about this.

I think the Google search must access some kind of Ancestry database which includes one of the search terms but not all. I'll try and fathom it out next time it happens to me.
