Great grandfather Marsh scarcely know his mother as she died when he was very small. He was effecttively brought up by stepmother Rebecca Rumble.
She is in Lord Street, St Pauls, Portsea in 1851: HO107 piece 1659 folio 739 page 36
There she is a bosun's wife, with Mary Ann, 2, and William, 1. By 1871, she has married Daniel Marsh and two sons are still at home: Robert aged 13 and Henry C aged 15.
Henry C is probably Charles Henry Rumble, bp 1856 at St Marys Portsea, Hants.
Rebecca must be somewhere in 1861 with at least those youngest two boys, but I can't see this little family anywhere. It's probably in the Pauls Ward in Portsea, but that doesn't help much.
