View Full Version : Burials from Westminster 1760s/70s
I've got a cluster of relations in St George Hanover Square and St James Piccadilly in this period and apart from some burials at Marylebone, I can't find burials for them using Ancestry, FMP or FS.
They were generally quite well off and left wills - one of them (Elizabeth Dell 1777) desires to be buried in Eastham Burying Ground in Essex - no idea if this is a one off or a trend. I've had a look at the SEAX and nothing comes up for her.
Any suggestions?
Are they non-conformist? Would Bunhill Fields be covered by any of the sites you've suggested?
They were C of E but I'll check - I think Bunhill Fields burials are on FS & FMP but I've got a sub to the Genealogist at the moment
No but was worth a try:-)
I presume Eastham is East Ham. Perhaps the East of London Family History Society could shed some light on Elizabeth's burial.
I'm sure it is, Shona - I've got a friend with a lot that way so I'll have a word with her as well. I would be surprised if all of them were buried that way, that early on.

When you say you've looked at SEAX and nothing comes up for Elizabeth Dell, do you mean that you have looked at the PR images on there for East Ham St Mary Magdalene Register of Burials 1740-1812 and there is no entry shown for her?
Ah no Kate - I just used the search for names thing. I've never used the site before so I'll have a proper look.

As far as I know the PR's on there aren't indexed, you just have to browse the images. But you have to pay a sub. There are short ones available though.

Chris, that's really kind of you - thank you. I've been away over night so hasn't had a chance to look at subscription options, which I'll do tomorrow. Thank you
