I have an Emma Paul who was a nurse child of my OH's Smith family who were from Hinckley and Burbage, Leicestershire. Later generation to this but may be some connection.

Thanks, Marg; I don't think she'll be closely related to my Pauls, because Ann's parents died when she was young and her only sibling died in childhood, but I'll keep an eye out for her.

I did a little research on here a few years ago as I was curious as to who she was. She lived with the Smith's for the majority of her life. I do have her birth cert, a twin if I remember correctly and both parents died. I'll look it out when I next get the laptop out.

Here's what I have, it may come in useful. I bet there is a connection. I wouldn't have thought that Paul as a surname was common. Looks like the mother Emma died in childbirth and the twins went to live with Benjamin and Ann Smith. Baby Emma died and it was Eliza who my lot brought up as their own. I haven't found a family connection yet though.

Thanks, Marg. I've had a look at the Hinckley baptisms and marriages on FreeReg and haven't found a connection yet, but I'll keep this family in mind.
