View Full Version : A dumb Q about Ancestry
Nothing to add to BK6 from this thread
If someone has made an amendment to a census entry on Ancestry and when you click their member name for the correction a box pops up stating:
Profile not available
Does that mean they are no longer a member, or something else?
Just checked an entry that I corrected and the same message comes up. Perhaps it's because I don't have any trees on Ancestry and thus there is no profile.
Thanks Shona. That makes sense.
Merry, out of curiosity, on the Ancestry homepage, I clicked on my username and then selected my profile to see if I had entered anything. They only way people can contact me is via Ancestry's message system. But as I haven't got any trees on Ancestry, no one would be able to do this! I think it means that if I contact people, then they can respond to me. There is also an option for not allowing any contact.
Thanks Shona. I have just been examining my profile in the same way!

Could it be to do with how the user has set their Public Profile Preferences?

I think i've had something similar Merry, and it was to do with the account being created before a certain date hence not having a profile attached.
I don't think I have a profile - don't remember doing one.

I don't either. Never filled it in.
Thanks everyone for your comments :)
