There are a couple of Patrick Allan baptisms in Berwickshire - 12 Dec 1731 Cranshaws, FamilySearch doesn't give parents' names, and 17 May 1750 Duns, parents George Allan and Isobel Dickson.

Children's names, in order of birth, are David, William, Kathrain, John, Elizabeth, Mary, Alison and Peter. This may help me in sorting out the right baptism for Peter.

It looks as though I have only viewed the OPR image for son John's baptism so far and it doesn't give Peter's occupation but does give the address as Langrig. Witnesses Wm Jeffrey and Thos Brown.

Have had a look at son David's baptism (14 Dec 1777) and it doesn't show Peter's occupation either although there is a column for it. Residence is Longrig and witnesses are Wm Dawson and Geo Eccles.

Now I've had a look at son Peter's baptism (24 Feb 1793) and residence is Bellchester, witnesses Wm Loremer and Thos Common. No occupation on that one either.

1797-8.

Langrig farm is a listed building from mid 19th century. The building doesn't appear on the 1858 OS map - there is an old steading there, according to various reports on tbe listing.
