I was at the library at the Society of Friends last week and they mentioned the following book:

"A Quaker Cottage Industry" by Charles Turner
1979

If anyone comes across a second-hand copy for sale, please would you alert me. I have searched but found nothing so far.

The only mention of it I can find is in this magazine, presumably a book review?

Kate, that's all I could find.
I'll have to go back to the library and read some of it there.

It concerns the Quaker clockmakers. My Gilkes family were supposed to be clockmakers, but there are so many Thomases it is difficult to unravel.

Thanks for the information, Shona.
Nice to know the publishers, even if they no longer exist.

Why not try your local library? They may be able to hunt down a copy that you could borrow for a small fee and read at your leisure.

Thanks for the nudge, Sue. I'll do that. The library in our town has moved into the old Argos store in the High Street and has a higher profile than before.
