I'm having trouble with William! I found one at boarding school, but I would have thought perhaps his family wouldn't have afforded that.
I'll have another look.

Yep, you have got it~ that's him too Liz

Many thanks for your help. It proves his father was deceased before 1871

Another one I am looking for but its a difficult one is a Samuel Lauchlan

1861 Census of Scotland shows that
William Laughland lived at 8 Moncrieff St, Paisley aged 33 (Miners Labourer), born in Ireland,
Jane, aged 26 born Renfrewshire, Paisley,
Samuel, Son aged 10, (Scholar), born Lanarkshire, Glasgow,
William John, Son aged 2, born Ayrshire, Auchinleck and
George Laughland, Son aged 6 months) born Renfrewshire, Paisley. Therefore William must have been born in Ireland in 1828, Jane in Paisley in 1835.
Samuel (whom we know nothing about) must have been born in 1851. I believe William came from County Derry, Ireland

We didn't even know about Samuel, as Jane & William did not marry till Oct 1855 and yet here was Samuel 10 years old. We thought Samuel must have been from an earlier marriage'

But never seen anything of him since. He was obviously born 1851

No idea how they've spelt Laughlan to look for him
