Looking at a will from 1648, where a son-in-law is mentioned. Is he equally likely at this time to be the testator's wife's son or the testator's daughter's husband?

Yes, could be either.

Thank you but that wasn't the answer I wanted:-) I know the son-in-law was definitely married to the testator's daughter but I suspect he was also the son of the testator's wife.
